CCW Permit Course

CCW Elite (Live Fire)

CCW Elite (Live Fire)

This classroom-only course is built to meet Virginia requirements under § 18.2-308.02 so you can apply for a concealed handgun permit after completion. We cover Virginia firearm law, when deadly force may be justified, safe handling, storage, and the responsibilities of carrying in Rockingham County and throughout the Commonwealth.

Topics typically include handgun types and how they operate, ammunition basics, malfunctions, holsters and belts, and the difference between range marksmanship and defensive shooting. There is no live fire in this session. It is designed for first-time applicants and anyone in Harrisonburg, McGaheysville, or the Shenandoah Valley who wants a clear, practical overview before they carry.

After the class you receive the documentation needed to apply with your circuit court. Classes stay small so questions about local ranges, home storage, and Virginia-specific rules can be answered thoroughly.

This Virginia-compliant course goes beyond the classroom. Students bring their everyday-carry handgun, 150 rounds, and eye/ear protection for a controlled live-fire session focused on draw, fundamentals, and confidence with the gun they actually carry.

The course meets § 18.2-308.02 and, after completion, you are eligible to apply for a Virginia concealed handgun permit. Training is held for Harrisonburg- and McGaheysville-area students, with skills that apply on local ranges and in real-world carry—not just on a qualification target.

This is the course we recommend for anyone in the Valley who wants more than the minimum permit class.

This one-day class is the starting point for pistol training at Blue Line Tactical. It is designed for beginners and for shooters in Harrisonburg, McGaheysville, and Rockingham County who want a clean reset on the fundamentals.

You will cover safety, range etiquette, clearing and cleaning, loading, equipment selection, fundamentals of fire, draw-stroke, stoppage clearing, common mistakes, and mindset. The techniques are beginner-friendly, but taught so they still work under stress and time pressure.

Students leave with a foundation they can use on Shenandoah Valley ranges and in later courses such as Pistol 2 or CCW Elite.

Pistol 1

This one-day course is for students who already have basic pistol skills and want to apply them more realistically. We start with a safety review and an audit of each person’s fundamentals, including draw stroke and reloads.

From there you will work cover and concealment, concealed-carry considerations, movement, and a fighter mindset. Prior training is required. This class is intended for Harrisonburg- and McGaheysville-area shooters who are ready to move past a static firing line.

Pistol 2 is a natural next step after Pistol 1 or a comparable introductory course.

Rifle 1

This one-day course is the foundation for all future rifle training. It is built for beginners and for Valley residents who want to run a carbine or rifle safely and efficiently.

Topics include safety, range etiquette, weapon operation, accessories, fundamentals of fire, shooting and ready positions, rapid target acquisition, target transitions, stoppage clearing, rapid fire, and mindset. The material is introductory, but the standard is realistic skill that holds up under stress.

Rifle 1 is intended for students training in Harrisonburg, McGaheysville, and the Shenandoah Valley.

This one-day course begins with a safety review and an audit of each student’s rifle fundamentals. You will then work movement, cover and concealment, alternate body positions, scenario-based stress fire, and mindset.

Rifle 1 (or equivalent) is required. This class is for Rockingham County shooters who already have the basics and want to use the rifle off the static line.

Training is geared toward practical application for Harrisonburg- and McGaheysville-area students, not just more rounds on a bullseye.
